Statement

As an emerging artist, I'm interested in working in the environment, discovering how natural processes can transform materials and their meanings. I am very much interested in the concepts of the ephemeral and entropy in my work, searching for art that evolves, decays and changes with the mysteries of time. Working intuitively, I stay open to discoveries and mistakes, which I blend into my process and in so doing, letting this magical evolution guide me. Exploring themes of myth, time, mortality, change, decay, memory, dreams and the spiritual, sacred life, I strive to create poetic sculptural interventions where the creative experience becomes cathartic, and to bring that experience to the viewer as well.

While photography is my main media, I like to discover new media and different ways of dealing with a site or object. Creating sculptural interventions from everyday objects, I am intrigued about the found object, and it's potential as a work of art. While exploring the intersection of photography and sculpture I work on many different projects at a time, allowing cross-fertilization of ideas through my successes and the gift of failure. Color, light and shadow are always a focus and concern. My work is site-generated: looking at, listening to and feeling the space and then reacting to it.

Dreams decay into memories,
Of rhythm and light,
Eyes float across the still water.

An outsider stands, isolated
In the silence of this obscured space.
Exposed to the wind, the rain and snow,
Revealing feelings that linger.
Ideas warp into seductive frayed knots,
Boundaries twist into paths.

A jar shatters under the sacred hill,
Fearing to lose my grip,
Smoldering emotions are revealed.
I vanish into reflection,
It is a metamorphosis of the heart,
Even as this page weathers in time.
The dance of beauty and decay,
Releasing the natural forces of transformation.
The bell tower measures our time.
